Baby Cards

I was in a local baby boutique store a few weeks ago and asked if they would be interested in carrying some of my cards. They said to bring in some samples, so in addition to what I already had made for my etsy store inventory, I made up these two cards, which are CASEd from this card at splitcoast. I changed the orientation and layout on the pink one, but the blue one is pretty close. I didn't have the delicate dots SAB paper, so I made do with some So Saffron dsp instead. I also added some faux stitching for extra effect, which I think really finished the cards off nicely!

Dad's Birthday Card

My dad's birthday was a few days ago, so I decided to ink up a stamp I bought at Hobby Lobby this summer. It is a classic car (possibly a 1935 Packard, but I'm not certain) and that is right up my dad's alley! I bought it because I was seeing emboss resist possibilities and I decided to have a go with this card. It got more involved than I had initially planned (don't they all...), but I'm pleased with the result. Just don't ask me what the white gel pen feathering is behind the car--I was trying to make it look like a pine tree since I didn't have a tree stamp. It looks better on the card than in the picture. I think he'll like it!

FTL #55

I don't often do the Fall-t0-Layout cards because I often find them frustrating to work with, but I needed a quick card by special request and this layout immediately jumped into my mind. The deal with the sketch was to take an image and create your own dsp, and then repeat the image at the top as the focal point. I may use this layout again--I kind of like it.

I made a few changes because I was in a hurry, but I think it works. I'm really liking the versatility of the Boho Backgrounds set--there is so much to do with it!

Baby Book scrapbook

Some of you might remember that my main project at the July Staycation was a baby book for my SIL, who is due in mid-October. Her baby shower was last weekend, and this was our gift to her for the new baby. It's a blank scrapbook, covering the first year. I used Sweet Always DSP as my color palette and then went from there! Isn't the ultra sound die cut nifty? I got an etsy seller to make it for me using my cardstock so it matched everything else. You put your ultrasound picture into the hole in the belly. So neat. You might need to enlarge the picture to see all the pages--I tried to put them on the photo collage roughly in order. Each month page has a place to write the weight and length, as well as a few things about what the baby is doing developmentally that month.

Asian Artistry Get Well Soon

I've not had much chance to play with this wonderful set yet. It's one of the new level 2 hostess sets and I really like it! I made two versions of this card. One I sent off right away as a Get Well Soon card for a friend who suddenly fell ill and the other I made for my etsy store, changing the sentiment for the Confucius saying. I also changed the colors on the bird slightly, as I was playing with my new markers. The Get Well Soon Card bird was colored with Apricot Appeal and Pretty in Pink and blended; the Confucius bird was colored with Barely Banana and Pretty in Pink and blended. I think the Barely Banana works better, myself.

Choo-Choo Birthday

My nephew, turned one in the middle of August, so I made him this card, which was CASEd (loosely) from this card on splitcoast stampers. I also made a party invitation version, which I'll post tomorrow. I just changed the Brilliant Blue to Pacific Point (because I have more of it than the Brilliant Blue) and the orange to Tangerine Tango because I have ink to match.
