Swaps for May 11

The big news is that I got my first order yesterday!! Yay!!! I met a woman at the craft show on Sunday who wanted a bunch of thank you cards, and we exchanged e-mails yesterday and at the end of it, I had a decent order! I made 12 of the cards yesterday and will get the rest of the supplies on Wednesday to finish everything off.

Also got to work yesterday on swaps for the May downline meeting, which I will miss because we are headed to sunny California that day to visit our favorite monastery. I for one am looking forward to visiting with Fr. Nicholas, my favorite self-made Russian. He's a Jew from
Brooklyn who converted to Orthodoxy, became a monk and made himself over as a Russian. He's a character. We always have good discussions about Russia, the Romanovs and Russian cuisine--he's a fan of sugar and onions.

Spent this morning running errands and getting ready for my parents who arrive this afternoon.

So here is my swap:
Cardstock: More Mustard, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, VeryVanilla
Ink: Copper Pigment ink, Old Olive Classic Ink, Versamark
Stamps: Always in Bloom wheel, Botanical Blooms (SAB 2009 set)
Ribbon: Old Olive and More Mustard 1/4" grosgrain ribbon
Embellishments: Dimensionals (2), Ticket corner punch
Technique: Poppin' Pastels (pumpkin pie and cameo coral with a q-tip), clear embossing powder on top of copper pigment ink

The embossed piece was actually part of a card I made for the craft show, but I realized after the show that the cards weren't really that great and took them apart. So I used the front pieces for these swaps--worked out perfectly! I'm a big fan of keeping every little scrap. I have a hard time recycling even the small edges that I trim, but I do force myself to toss those in the bin. At some point one must be realistic. :)

The Craft Show

The last few days have been busy--sat at a poorly attended craft fair on Sunday afternoon but managed to sell a few cards. The fair was supposed to be in Northern Liberties, but only the most creative-map quester would describe the location as N. Liberties. It is under the highway, for Pete's sake! NO ONE LIVES THERE! So no natural foot traffic, etc. Should have just done the Fairmount Arts Crawl. Oh well. Live and learn. Here are the cards I was selling:

Sock Monkey card--I thought this would be a great kid's birthday invite.

Congratulations...On getting a little bit older and better than ever!

Baby onesie card--these were popular!
Thank you pocket card--I love this card; I've done a red version and this green one. The possibilites are endless!
