Little Bunny Foo-Foo Blouse

I went round and round on the name of this blouse, and ended up with Little Bunny Foo-Foo, because, well, just 'cause.  What can I say?  It's a Portrait blouse, from Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing, my third iteration, and I love this fabric!  Japanese cotton is just so lovely.  And the little bunnies are just fun.  I recently discovered a few other non-quilting-weight cotton options I like, so watch this space!  (Although I'm pretty much done sewing for myself this summer; I'll probably save any new projects for cooler weather)

I did not make the skirt; it is a lovely bright blue linen from Kim Rogers.  I bought it on ebay, and shortened it; it was labeled a petite size but the length was still rather long on me!  I took it up 3" and probably could have taken four.  I've also decided I'm going to wear linen and not worry about the wrinkles.  It is cool, the wrinkles are a design feature, and I think as I wash and wear the skirt more, the wrinkles will release some.

I really love this outfit--it is kind of my "uniform" right now.  The blouse is a little shorter than most t-shirts on me, so it isn't a big deal to tuck and untuck for nursing access (my main complaint about tucking in modern shirts is the extreme length of them)  It also means the blouse looks okay untucked too!  Win-win.

Not much to say about the construction--I left off the waist darts in the front and back so that I could skip the side zipper and make this a pull-over shirt.  I did some chain-stitching in contrast thread around the neckline to match the blue of the bunnies' eyes.  I also extended the shoulders a few inches, as I prefer slightly longer kimono sleeves.

*Note to self: shapewear would greatly improve this outfit (as I discovered when I wore it today with a proper girdle--these photos were taken earlier in the week)
