The kids went back to school today, so I had a bit of time to knit during nap time this afternoon. I thought about sewing, but it is still ridiculously hot and humid here, although less bad than yesterday, and I just couldn't think straight. Plus I've been up since 4:30 a.m. with Ponchik, who thought that was a fine time to get up for the day, so I knew any sewing I did would be mistake-riddled. Better to leave it for cooler weather and a better rested mind.
Piglet started first grade, Boo started PK-2, and Birdie is in PK-1.
There was a bit of drama with Birdie at drop off, but she seemed to have a great day otherwise, and the bo ys had a good first day too. Piglet was super excited about his new uniform. Boo was very jealous that he didn't have one. Birdie was very excited about her new backpack and lunchbox, and told everyone we met about it for weeks beforehand.
I made myself work on the lace headband because I have other projects I want to start on, and I'm about 2/3rds done with the final sleeve of the mushroom sweater, so I figured I better keep at that headband. I was kind of psyching myself out about it, because I have to count every single row, but I'm to the point where it repeats a pattern of four rows, and I'm starting to get it memorized. The stockinette dip in the middle is where it gets tied over the head.
Nothing new with reading--still working through Peter King's Anti-Modern Condition in fits and starts and finishing my news magazines.
I love those pictures! and Birdie's excitement is so cute! the headband is turning out well! Hang in there; I know the heat is difficult...
