Midnight Sky Redux

No, dear readers, your eyes do not deceive.  This is the same fabric as my Midnight Sky dress from last winter's rotation.   While I liked the original dress, and felt the colors were good for my skin, I never really got the fit right on that one.  The waist was always a smidge too high, and I've really been quite over my Frankenpattern dress for some time.  The dress has found a new home with the delightful Jessica, who was absolutely thrilled to have it.  I'm sure it will look fabulous on her, with her wonderfully dramatic coloring.

After sending the original dress on its way, however, I decided that I really would like to have this fabric in my closet, and that another Dottie Angel frock was in order.  I actually made this dress in the late fall, intending it for my winter rotation (and keen eyes may remember that it made a brief appearance in my winter pics), but I decided almost as soon as I posted my initial photos that the dress didn't really work well for my rotation, since I didn't have any heavy weight layers to go with it.

I confess, I nearly gave this one away as well; I thought perhaps I had made a mistake in making it, but I thought perhaps I should stick it in my spring pile and reassess in March.  Well, it is March, and I think I'm glad I kept it.  I do still lack an appropriate sweater to wear with this dress, and the black undershirt is rather thin, but the scarf does help to warm it up a bit and offsets the black.

I also didn't expect it to drop into the 20s in March, so I wasn't really prepared to wear this dress in such weather!  I have my black Bear Traps boots on again to keep my feet and legs warm!  I found the scarf on ThredUp a month ago, and bought it for this dress.  There are little moons in the print that are a sort of purpley-pink color that is hard to match (I know, I've tried!), but this scarf is close enough.  It has the advantage of going with all the coral-y things in my spring rotation as well.

It is a really pretty print, and the blues are very deep and saturated. 

I need to figure out how to polish these boots--I bought them secondhand on ebay, and the toes are rather scuffed.  They were a fantastic bargain and otherwise in good shape, so I decided to overlook it, but I think there must be a way to clean them up.  Off to Dr. Google I shall go!

And because I know you are dying to know about dental surgery recovery (kidding): things are getting a little better, slowly, slowly.  I'm still taking over the counter pain meds around the clock, but lower doses, spaced out further.  Eating is still slow and difficult, but better than a week ago, so that is progress.  I will be a much happier camper when the stitches come out so that all the friction sores in my mouth can start to heal!
