No Talking Tuesday today, because while I have things to discuss, I've been on sick duty since Thursday, and my brain is curdled. I was up a lot on Thursday night, up all night on Friday night, up a fair bit on Saturday night, and finally got to sleep through Sunday night. Birdie had a high fever for several days, plus a fierce cough, and I literally had her or Ponchik on my body nearly 24-7 until Monday. My poor introverted self just can't take it. So I can't write when I'm in this sort of state. Birdie went back to school today, after five long days of difficult illness, so I'm hoping to get caught up and rested soon. I spoke too soon. She is still running a low-grade fever, so will be home until she can kick it for good. I'm just hoping she makes it back to school before her spring break!!
But! I thought I'd keep momentum with Project 333, since today is the first day of my spring rotation!!
I carried over a few pieces from the winter, and added some new things, plus I have two more projects to complete to round out this rotation, but I have enough to get me started anyway. I'll blog the new projects separately, but will just mention them in the list here.
Left to right, top to bottom:
Royal blue eshakti knit dress, Notre Dame dress, Red eshakti knit dress, Pincushion dress
Feedsack dress, Green Cookie Book dress
Purple wool cardigan, purple long sleeve henley t-shirt, Rosemont cardigan, red cotton cardigan
Black skirt, denim skirt (I have a green twill skirt in the works and a chambray skirt on order)
Green/blue striped breton shirt, coral breton shirt, DS Plaid Portrait blouse, navy knit t-shirt
Navy long-line cotton cardigan, aqua cotton cardigan, wool/cotton peach cardigan, kelly green cotton cardigan
Bluebird dress, Vignette dress, Tokyo Train Ride Redux dress, Yardley's dress
I'm kind of on the fence about the Portrait blouse--I made it last fall, wore it once and was totally annoyed by it, but I'm not sure if that was because of the blouse or because of the skirt I wore it with. I'm going to try it again with my denim skirt to see if I like it better, but if not, out it goes. Over the weekend, I found a leaf-green cotton pullover on ThredUp that I think will be a nice addition for these weeks of transitional weather.
This is the same kelly green twill I used last fall to make an a-line skirt that is now way too big. I also am not wearing that style of skirt any longer, so it didn't make sense to try and take it in (which I think wouldn't have worked well anyway because of the size differential). So I bought a bit more twill and cut out a straight skirt with my trusty vintage Anne Adams pattern. I'm waiting a bit to make it.
I had in mind to make a chambray skirt as well, and have some fabric stashed from when Grey's Fabric was having their big sale last summer, but eshakti had a very similar skirt with some nice detailing at a good price, so I decided to give it a try instead. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with everything right now, and I thought it might be worth something to take one project off my plate. I figure if it doesn't look right or fit well, I'll send it back and just make up my fabric in time for warmer weather. In either case, I might swap out the black skirt for it, as I feel like three skirts is enough for a rotation, and black can be kind of severe on me.
My last spring project is the Pots and Pans dress. I'm a little unsure how this dress is going to work, frankly. I bought the vintage print sometime early last year, and never made it up. I had intended a Portrait blouse, as the fabric is the perfect length for one, but I realize now that I'm not wearing my Portrait blouses like I once was. So I'm going to attempt a Dottie Angel frock with a contrasting solid bottom. It is actually one of the pattern options, and I've seen samples made up, but I'm concerned this is going to come out looking a bit Mod. We'll see. I did lay it out with the pockets and such to get a sense of it, and I think it might be okay.
I have a pair of Dankso clog/sandals, plus my brown boots and rain boots to round things out. I'll swap out boots for sandals as it gets warmer.
I think the total number of garments in my closet is about 28 for the spring. My winter rotation ended up with about 25, which felt about right, but I know spring has more weather shifts than winter, so I need a few extra cardigans in differing weights to accommodate that. I also know that I almost always end up taking some things out in the first weeks of a new rotation as I realize what works together and what doesn't, so I'm sure I'll probably end up closer to 25 by the end of May.
